Luigi Busà – Olympic Champion – Karate Workshop

Luigi Busà Additional Support Needs Karate Workshop

We are delighted to announce the very special guest for our karate workshop will be Luigi Busà, Italian Karate Athlete, Olympic Gold Medallist in Tokyo and multiple World and European Karate Champion. The course has been organised by the Italian Institute of Culture in Edinburgh in conjunction with Shuzoku Wado-Kai Association.

Date: Sunday 14th May 2023

Venue: Engage Sports Centre, Edinburgh Napier University, Sighthill Campus, EH11 4BN

Timings:
10:45 – 11:45 am: Children under 12 years (SWA Licenced Members Only)
11:45 am – 1:15 pm: Children 12+ and Adults (includes 30 mins interval) (SWA Licenced Members/Invited Guests Only)
1:15 pm – 2:15 pm: Students with disabilities and/or additional support needs. (Open to SKGB/BKF members with a disability or additional support needs).

Cost: Free of Charge.

SWA Members/Invited Guests attending should contact their club instructor to register for the workshop.

SKGB/BKF members wishing to attend the assisted support needs karate workshop (1.15pm – 2.15pm) should complete the additional support needs registration form.

2023 AGM and Judges Course

At 2pm on Saturday 15th April 2023, in Studio 2 at the Winchburgh Sport and Wellbeing Hub, we will host a practical judges/officials course and would encourage all our adult members to come along, learn the rules and get some practical experience of score/time keeping and judging. The course will be very relaxed with no pressure. We would also like to invite some of our more experienced kids (12 years + kyu grades to take part in some practice bouts).

Then at 3.30pm we will hold our 2023 Annual General Meeting. This is open to all licenced adult members, as well as parents of licenced child members, please register for the AGM via this form.

All nominations for office bearers to be made in writing to the secretary secretary@wado.scot by the deadline of one week before the AGM.

British Grand Slam Results January 2023

Congratulations to Sophie Jones who won a Gold Medal and Kyle Schuller won won a Bronze Medal in their respective Para Kata events, while representing the Scotland National Karate Team at the British Grand Slam event in Penrith. Whilst at the event they also took part in a BKF Performance Training Camp with the British Para Karate Coach.

Senior Grade Course 28th January 2023

The first Senior Grade course of 2023 will take place on 28th January at Xcite Broxburn Sports Centre.

2pm for Instructors
3pm for members 3rd Kyu+

The course will cover the 2023 Dan Grade Syllabus.

Scotland Call Up for Sophie and Kyle

Congratulations to Sophie Jones and Kyle Schuller who have been selected to represent the Scotland National Karate team at the British Grand Slam in the Para Kata events. The event will be held on the 22nd of January 2023 in Penrith.

Scottish Elite National Championships December 2022

Congratulations to Thomas Scott on winning Bronze in the Senior Male Kata and to Sophie Jones and Kyle Schuller who won Bronze in the Para Kata at the Scottish Elite National championships 2022 help at Ravenscraig.
