Azami Karate Group was founded on Saturday 24th February 1990 by Senior Instructor Peter Rogers 7th Dan at Broxburn Sports Centre, a venue we still teach in to this day. The group takes its name from the Japanese translation of ‘thistle’.

We currently teach classes at Xcite Broxburn Sports Centre, Xcite Winchburgh Sport and Wellbeing Hub and Kirkliston Leisure Centre as well as offering individual or small group lessons in our private dojo in Winchburgh.
The group is assisted by Instructor Lisa Scott 6th Dan, who was a founder member of the group, Tom Scott 3rd Dan, who’s is Shuzoku Wado-Kai’s Kata Coach, Hannah Donaldson 3rd Dan, Tony Pettenuzzo 3rd Dan and Steph Whitelaw 2nd Dan, who teaches our wee azami warriors (4 year olds). All of our instructors are fully qualified Scottish Karate Governing Body coaches.
