Lothian Disability Sport Awards 2025

Congratulations to Andy and Sophie who were shortlisted for the Lothian Disability Sport Coach of the year and Sports Person of the year awards respectively.

This year Sophie has won the British Karate Championships, medalled at both the Karate Scotland International Open and British Karate International Open, and has been selected to represent the Scotland Wado Kai karate team at the forthcoming Federation of European Wado-Kai Karate Championships in Italy for Para Karate.

Andy is the Scotland National Para Karate Coach, Disability Coach for Shuzoku Wado-Kai Association, Senior Instructor of Dalry Karate Group and an active schools Coach in Edinburgh.

Well done to both of you on your nominations.

Okinawa E-Tournament WORLD Series #3 2025

Congratulations to Thomas Scott and Andrew Forrest on their recent success at the Okinawa E-Tournament WORLD Series #3 2025, with them winning Gold in the Mixed Masters Duo (Pairs Kata) and Tom winning gold in the individual Masters Kata Event.

Andrew finished second in pool 1 with Niseishi, progressing to the Bronze Medal Match.

In the Bronze medal match, Andrew lost out to his German opponent on this occasion with Jion.

In Pool 2, Tom topped the pool with Chinto, progressing to the Gold Medal Match.

Tom won the Gold Medal match with his performance of Bassai.

Tom and Andrew won the Mixed Master Duo with Niseishi performing Bunkai in the final match.
